10: Traveling with Your Gear

Here is a link to great tips to pay attention to when traveling with your gear. Even though I don't travel much on planes until this year it is very important as a photographer to know how to properly take care of your own gear. I'm more of a person who likes traveling in cars. Then I can stop whenever and where ever I want to capture a shot. Though going from being on an airplane once and then 4 times within 2 months was an awesome experience I still plane on traveling by car unless it's out of the country because of the fact that I like taking photos as I go, on land.

7: Referring to #2

So for my specialization class I originally wanted to do photojournalism for my project, however my teacher said I could not. So finally durning midterm week he FINALLY agrees to it so I'm pretty excited that I get to do what I want. I was fine with doing photo illustration however I am not that interested in it nor did I feel like I was learning anything from it. It didn't really fit the images I was taking either. So now I get to finish going threw all 4 photo shoots I have so far from the National Guard/Army! I am excited to start making a solid selection of shots to go threw!

5: A little bit of inspiration goes a long way

So people may be wondering why the Army/Nation Guard as a focus of a project. Well honestly it has been a focus of a few projects now because it's an ongoing journey I go threw with the person I am with.

Many people don't realize how it effects a person, a family, and friends related to someone that is involved with the services unless they are actually connected to someone that is. I have many friends that serve our country. Some of them are in Japan, a few in Iraq, one of my friends just got back from Afghanistan, I have two friends based in TX, and two more based in Cali. I also have three friends going threw basic training at this time.

For some reason or another I have always been surrounded by people in the service. I'm not complaining that's for sure they are all wonderful people. It has made me a lot more interested in those who serve our Country though and now that I have had the opportunity to get fully involved and get some photo shoots set up I took the opportunity and well here I am, in the middle of a long photo project!

3: Always temporary

As a photographer I feel as if I'm always looking for something new, something more. Do I find it? Yea, normally. Is it normally what I thought I was looking for, no. My visual imagination is always creating something, what? I am not sure. It is eager to expand, to see more, to create more. But sometimes, mentally, my buried lifestyle interrupts it and it becomes frozen. The electric flow is stopped and gets lost and I get stuck in a robotic lifestyle.
